Great American Cleanup - Troup County

What is the Great American Cleanup in Troup County?

Keep Troup Beautiful is getting ready for spring with the 2010 Great American Cleanup set for Saturday, April 17th. The largest annual community improvement program encourages volunteers to pick activities to beautify Troup County. Groups can participate by picking up litter, planting gardens or painting unsightly buildings or other projects.

Angela Jackson from Interface participated in the Great American Cleanup by picking up litter on North Davis Road in LaGrange.

The first 200 participants who register by March 26th receive a T-shirt. Volunteers can participate before or on April 17th. Registered participants are invited to the Chamber of Commerce Plaza in LaGrange or City Park in Hogansville (on April 17) or Givorn's Parking lot in West Point (on April 16) between 11:30am and 12 noon for refreshments, entertainment and door prizes.

Volunteers can pick-up registration pledge forms at local businesses in West Point, Hogansville and LaGrange by April 8th, or register on-line. Pick your own area or call KTB for an assignment. Concerned citizens can call (706) 884-9922 to report littered grounds around their business, school, church or neighborhood, and groups will be assigned to that area. Trash bags may be brought to the container at the plaza for disposal, left in on-site trash containers or left on the street to be picked up later in the week.  FREE GLOVES AND TRASH BAGS may be picked up at the Keep Troup Beautiful office at 251 S. L. White Boulevard anytime before April 17.

The 2010 Great American Cleanup national sponsors are Wal-mart, Exxon-Mobil, Burger King and Interface.
